SPACE Forum open to all local parent carers

Did you know? There is a forum open to all parent carers of children and young people with SEND. Branching off from the Autism in Schools, Parents Supporting Parents Forum this group gives you a chance to meet other parent carers, share experience and ideas, hear from professionals in different areas of SEND. Educational settings are also invited to attend to hear what parent carers have to say, and understand what is important to them.

Young Carers Project video

If you are a young person and you regularly look after someone you could be a young carer. Local young carers made this great animated video talking about what a young carer is and the local group they can be a part of to get support, understand their rights, take part in activities with other kids like them and more.

Design the YPAG Logo

We’ve had lots of great entries for the YPAG Logo competition.

A local child or young persons artwork will be made into a logo for the SEND Young People’s Advisory Group (YPAG). It’s an exciting opportunity to get creative and do something that will be used all around the borough.

The winner and their head teacher will be invited to North East Lincolnshire Council’s Design and Print Hub to see where their artwork was made into the finished product. They will also get a visit to the Time Trap Museum at Grimsby Town Hall.

Take a picture of your child/ students drawing and send it to lauren.thompson2@nelincs.gov.uk by 13 November for a chance to win.

The YPAG Group will be judging the entries at the end of November.

Learn more about the competition and how to design a logo. NELC SEND Local Offer | UPDATE: Extended until Monday 13 November. Competition time! Design the YPAG logo – NELC SEND Local Offer (nelincs.gov.uk) See some of the submission we’ve already received.

EHCP Annual Review

Is your child’s EHCP Annual Review coming up? Remember what you can do to prepare for an Annual Review. You and your child should look through their EHCP. Write down any questions that you want to discuss at the meeting. Encourage you child to share their voice. Use the online EHCP Feedback Form after the meeting so that we can continue to improve. The feedback form asks things like:

  • I understand what an annual review meeting is and why it is important to me/my child.
  • I was given enough time and help to decide what I wanted to say at the meeting.
  • I felt confident to say what I wanted.
