Regional Disability Badminton Training

Join disability badminton training sessions for Secondary aged children (Years 7 – 11) both boys and girls with a physical disability, including wheelchair users. 

You don’t need to have played badminton before. The team could go to the Disability Junior National Championships.

Disability Junior National Championships is a national competition that will engage with disabled juniors, providing an intro to a fun, friendly badminton competition in Sheffield on Saturday 17 June, 2023.

There are two training days to join with your regional disability coach to prepare for the championships. These training days are in Nottingham on 29 April and 20 May.

New sibling carer organisation

Have your heard of the Tree House Project? It’s a new charity that has been set up to provide a local community for sibling carers.

Project Search Supported Internships

Applications are open for 12 places on the September cohort of interns for DFN Project Search.

It’s a great programme for local young people with SEND to experience life as an independent working individual with the additional support and understanding of friendly group of professionals to make sure they have a positive experience.

The current cohort of interns praise the programme and have aspirations to go onto paid employment and independent living.

Healthy Parent Carers

Improving parent carers’ health and wellbeing.

Healthy Parent Carers is a 12 week, group based, online programme. Sessions are two hours.

It is created by and delivered by parent carers.

Courses start in April and May 2023.

Tangled-SEND Sensory Cinema

The next Sensory Cinema event at Cleethorpes Leisure Centre will be Tangled on 21 May from 2pm to 4pm

There will be sensory activities and lots of fun alongside the film to sing along to!

Sensory Cinema is a SEN adapted cinema experience for all, passionate about inclusion and adapting. You’ll feel safe here!

Mobility, for children with vision impairment, means helping them to learn to move safely and independently, learning routes and strategies for getting around familiar and unfamiliar places.

NE Lincs Local Authority provide mobility and habilitation services in different ways for children and young people, families and the adults who support them.

On Monday 17 April, some of our NE Lincs SEND team continued with their Visually Impaired Hab training.

SEND Local Offer working group

Join the SEND Local Offer website working group on 26 April from 1-2:30pm at Grimsby Town Hall.

The SEND Local Offer Working Group is an ongoing engagement group that bring together parent carers, professionals and children and young people to develop the Local Offer website.

Free workshop for parent carers

Book your place on the free support for parents of children with anxiety workshop.

The workshop will cover:

  • What is Anxiety
  • What are the signs of Anxiety and how it can make you feel
  • What are the causes of Anxiety
  • Different types of Anxiety
  • Strategies to help recognise and manage anxiety.

The Carers’ Support Centre has a parents supporting parents group on the last Monday of every month for parent carers of a child with any additional needs.

Data Support Officer (SEND)

The Delivering Better Value programme (DBV) is a national programme led by the Department for Education (DfE). The focus is Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The purpose of the programme: to work with local authorities with SEND responsibilities to look at ways of improving local services, making the most effective use of resources and, most importantly, improving outcomes for children.

The programme includes considering how data and insights can be used to better inform trend analysis, planning, decision making and service design, working with and alongside children and families; and how schools can work together more effectively to support an inclusive approach to education provision and support.

Your Role & Team 

This is a new role within our new Insights team that is responsible for the collection, collation, and analysis of data and information for the DBV project.  

In this role you will collate and gather information from a wide range of sources and systems across the council and its partners.  You will ensure that information is accessible to the data analysts working within the team, ensuring that data is ‘clean’ and of a high quality, and undertake some data analysis yourself.
