Parent Champion Group for deaf children and young people

The new Parent Champion group for deaf children and young people gives parents the chance to share their voice, thoughts, and opinions as parents of deaf children and young people. It also provides a peer support network for parents and carers.

The group is organised by Karen Jacklin and Debra Gregory Jones who are both Teachers of the Deaf.

The group met on 21 July and discussed topics such as the name of the group, if members would represent families of deaf children and young people in meetings about Speech and Language and future themes for the meetings.

The group said: “We would like a way of keeping in touch with each other to share good news and tips and also a to ask for help;  like what to do when a hearing aid has been for a swim in the bath!”
