Our Council helps three interns on their pathway to employment

“It is fantastic that the staff at the Crematoriums share our values and commitment to supporting our young people’s journey towards employment.

Currently, three of our Supported Internship students from Grimsby Institute are on work experience at Grimsby Crematorium.

Two students are working on grounds maintenance and one student is at the Reflection Tea Room.

By offering this work experience, the staff at the Crematorium are providing a platform for our interns to work towards sustainable employment by equipping them with the skills they need for future work through learning in the workplace.

Victoria Kirman, Skills and Employability Trainer from Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education said: “Through discussions and reviews with my interns I can see the positive impact the work experience at the Crematorium offers.

“My interns feel valued and feel that they bring something positive to the workplace.

Anothy works two days a week doing grounds maintenance at Grimsby Crematorium, supported by the two members of their team.

“It is fantastic that the staff at the Crematoriums share our values and commitment to supporting our young people’s journey towards employment. This underpins what our Supported Internship Programme sets out to achieve – raising the ambitions of our young people as they realise that they have the skills needed for employment and local businesses recognise the source of new talent that our interns offer.

“We know that the centre to achieving the best possible outcomes for all young people is partnership working.”

Our Supported Internship Programme requires the involvement of many different partners including North East Lincolnshire Council, as we are working together collaboratively with each other, but importantly with our young people to help achieve the best possible outcomes for our Supported Internship students.
