Our Coronation Champion- Learning Disability Week 2023

Throughout Learning Disability Week 2023 we are sharing local stories of people with Learning Disabilities to share the rich and fulfilling lives they lead and the many accomplishments they have to celebrate.

Daniel is a local person who was recognised for his volunteering efforts with a competitive Coronation Champion Award.

“Daniel began accessing our Foresight services many years ago and moved into volunteering for our day centre.

“When Dan first started volunteering, he was a shy person who struggled with his self-esteem and confidence.

“He has since moved into various roles which include delivering arts and crafts, drama and singing classes, supporting disabled people removing barriers to participation and organising quarterly disability variety shows featuring adults and children.

“We placed an application in on behalf of Dan for the Coronation Champion Awards, there where 5000 applicants and only 500 where chosen, Dan was one of these!

“Dan has been an inspirational role model to fellow volunteers through his achievements and to the members of the disabled community who he has supported and motivated resulting in extensive social and personal benefits.”
