The Makaton Charity says: “Makaton is a unique language programme that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people to communicate. It supports the development of essential communication skills such as attention and listening, comprehension, memory, recall and organisation of language and expression.”

She is holding Makaton taster sessions and Level 1 sessions at The Wheatsheaf function room, Bargate, Grimsby, DN34 5AD.

Makaton Level 1
Learn 150 signs and symbols.
A practical introduction to the Makaton language programme.
Discuss commonly asked questions, learn hints and tips for effective signing and symbol use and how to start using Makaton in everyday situations at home or at work.
You will learn signs from stages 1 and 2, as well as some of the additional stages of the core vocabulary. You will learn approximately 150 signs and symbols.
Recommended for parents, carers and professionals.
Attend all three workshops on Wednesday 2, 9, and 16 March from 7pm-9:30pm.
Or attend all day from Saturday 26 March from 9am-5pm.
The cost is £80 per participant. You can benefit from a group booking price of £400 for up to 12 people, plus a fee of £20 per person.
