Fitness and PE Goes Virtual

During lockdown leisure centre customers and school children are being encouraged to keep their fitness levels and sports skills up with a host of online virtual classes.

Lincs Inspire has taken to running their classes online in a bid to keep leisure members motivated and active at home, along with keeping in touch with pupils to ensure PE skills are practiced during the national lockdown.

During the first week in January, Lincs Inspire saw 750 classes viewed, either live or on-demand.

The timetable is varied with something for everyone – from low impact dance or seated cardio sessions to high impact interval training or energetic Zumba routines. Currently it is open to everyone, members and non-members. Download the App from the App stores. View the live sessions on the website here.

Since schools closed to many children this month, Lincs Inspire sports coaches have also taken to recording PE classes so that children who are being home-schooled can continue to engage with PE.

Getting out for daily exercise is not always easy and it is important that children also try to maintain fitness levels whilst schools are closed. Lincs Inspire’s Virtual PE sessions are also aligned to the school curriculum with Agility, Coordination, Throwing and Catching, and Dance sessions being taught along with more traditional out-of-school club activities such as skipping.
