North East Lincolnshire Parent Carer Forum (NELPCF)

NELPCF’s aim is for every SEND family to know that you are not alone.

NELPCF says:

“Are you a parent carer/grandparent of a child/young person aged 0-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) – diagnosed or suspected? Whether you’re new to the world of SEND or you’ve been on the journey for a long time, NELPCF are here for you.

“We are North East Lincolnshire Parent Carer Forum (NELPCF). We are a passionate group of parent carers of children with a range of needs and disabilities. We champion support and strive for positive change for SEND children and their families in North East Lincolnshire. We are independent of the Local Authority (LA) and we gather the experiences of parent carers to inform the LA of these: what’s working well and what’s not. We hold our own regular Coffee Mornings, along with attending events at schools and community events. We have arranged free events for SEND families, along with training for parent carers – enabling parent carers to gain knowledge and to feel empowered. As a Forum we cannot provide individual advice and support but we can most definitely signpost you to relevant services and support.

“To become a member of NELPCF, please follow us on Facebook, join our exclusive Facebook group, visit our website to complete our membership form, email us or ask us for a paper copy of our membership form.”

Why does North East Lincolnshire need a Parent Carer Forum?

Every Local Authority area in England needs a parent carer forum. This is a way that you can have your voice heard and work together with other parent carers to make the changes that you would like.

What is a Parent Carer Forum?

Parent carer forums are independent groups run by parent carers.

They work alongside the local authority and health as equal partners to help improve services for children and young people with additional needs and their families.

Parent carer forums are responsible for understanding the collective views of parent carers in their local area.

Parent carer forums do not campaign or offer individual advice and support. If you need individual information or support please contact the Carers Support Service North East Lincolnshire. Parent Carers – Carers Support Service North East Lincolnshire (carerssupportcentre.com).

Find out more about parent carer forums and how parents across England are helping improve local and national services for children with SEND.

Why have other parent carers get involved?
