24/7 access to books and magazines using Libby Reading App

NORTH East Lincolnshire’s residents can browse, borrow and enjoy even more eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines from Lincs Inspire Libraries through the award-winning Libby reading app.

Digital books, previously available through the RBdigital app, will be moved to the library’s OverDrive service and made available through Libby from Tuesday, February 23. OverDrive, the leading digital reading platform for libraries and schools worldwide and creator of the Libby app, recently acquired RBdigital.

With a valid library card, members of the community can borrow from the library’s digital collection by downloading Libby from the App stores or visiting libbyapp.com.

Derek O’Connell, Development Manager for Lincs Inspire Libraries, said: “This is an exciting new product available to our library customers and essentially means they are able to put their local library in their pocket! There are thousands of digital books waiting to be discovered for free and at the click of a button.

“Libby brings new features to our customers, making the experience of reading or listening to digital books enjoyable and easy. Loans, notes, bookmarks and reading progress are synced across devices, you can listen in your car through Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or a Bluetooth connection and you can explore the collection through catalogue guides, subjects, featured titles and curated lists.”

Ebooks checked out in the RBdigital app will be available through the remainder of the lending period, so readers can finish their loaned title without disruption. Holds will not be moved to Libby, but library patrons may export their Transaction History from the RBdigital app then borrow or place holds on those titles again in Libby. Until further notice, readers can continue using the RBdigital app to access newspapers through Pressreader.

Named one of Popular Mechanics’ 20 Best Apps of the Decade, Libby seamlessly connects first-time users and experienced readers with Lincs Inspire Libraries’ digital collection. This locally selected collection offers eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines, including bestsellers and new releases. Readers of all ages can select from virtually every subject ranging from mystery, romance, children’s, business and more.

Readers may browse Lincs Inspire Libraries’ digital collection, instantly borrow titles, and start reading or listening for free with a valid library card. This service is compatible with all major computers and devices, iPhone®, iPad®, Android™ phones and tablets and Chromebook™. All titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period and there are no late fees. Readers can also download titles onto Libby for offline use.

To get started enjoying eBooks, eAudiobooks and more, download Libby or visit libbyapp.com.
